Proposition 137 would siphon $175 million in taxpayer dollars every year to degrade and destroy Colorado’s landscape by bankrolling industrial logging of tens of thousands of acres annually. The project would be done under the scientifically debunked and counterproductive guise of “wildfire prevention.”

In opposition…Conservation Colorado, Western Resource Advocates and The Nature Conservancy (all of which endorse a ballot measure [Prop 137] to route more taxpayer funding to more public lands logging) successfully demanded that the Committee not allot a single additional dollar to protect the state’s most vulnerable residents’ homes from wildfire.

Ironically, the outcome is a likely increase in community vulnerability to wildfire through widespread tree removal.
